Our Story.
How’d We Get Here?
Honestly? By accident.
Back in 2005, we ditched our 9-to-5s to chase a dream of flipping a beach house. (Think HGTV, minus the camera crew and craft services.) Newly married, no kids yet—it felt like the perfect time to risk it. But instead of beachy bliss, the deal tanked. Or as Dave’s great aunt used to say, it was a “blessing in the skies.”
Freelancing was the quick fix for our shiny new “funemployment,” and—surprise!—it stuck. Twenty years later, Simpatico is still alive, kicking, and way more than a side hustle. The beach house dream? Still on the mood board. But this gig? Pretty darn dreamy too.
Why We’ve Stayed Virtual (Since Before It Was Cool)
We’ve been a virtual studio since day one—not because it was trendy, but because it just works. No wasted energy on office politics, fluorescent lighting, or who forgot to replace the toilet paper. Instead, we get to focus 100% on our clients.
And let’s be real: creativity doesn’t clock in at 9 and peace out at 5. It shows up when it wants (usually late at night, sometimes in the shower). We built Simpatico to give ourselves the freedom to live the life we want while doing the work we love. That balance—life + creativity—isn’t just our backstory. It’s our entire business model.
